English term
I did the whole session
Narrator: It's Friday and practice day.
Nic Hamilton: Everything was normal. The last time I saw about that track was on a game and, funnily enough, when I did that game I’d won both races, so I knew the track quite well. So **I did the whole session** and everything was going fine, I had no excursions, no mistakes. And I remember looking in my mirror and seeing Tom Grice behind me, and I turned in to the right hander.
What does "I did the whole session" mean?
Does it mean the same as "I’d won both races"?
Thank you.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

What is a practice session?
At each Grand Prix meeting all race drivers may participate in two one and a half-hour practice sessions on Friday (Thursday at Monaco), a one-hour practice session on Saturday morning and a qualifying session on Saturday afternoon.
While individual practice sessions are not compulsory, a driver must take part in at least one practice session to be eligible for the race.
The interval between the first and second free practice sessions, in addition to the interval between the third free practice session and the qualifying practice session, may never be less than two hours.
Thank you, Sheila. |
Discussion
When posting the question, I forgot to mention the reason I'm not sure it's the practice session. It's that just after he turned in to the right hander he had an accident (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/English/general_conversation_greet...
Shouldn't he have felt confident to avoid mistakes when driving, if he had already driven all the track (completed the practice) that day?
