English term or phrase: operator vehicle
Ohio USA driver's license defines a Class D license as one giving permission to operate an "operator vehicle". Yet the term "operator vehicle" is not defined in Google or on the Ohio BMV website. The only vehicle I know which does not require an operator is a drone, or maybe one of the new Google driverless cars. So what is an operator vehicle?

Explanation:

"Operator" includes any person who drives or operates a motor vehicle upon the public highways.

Note that these two reference documents refer to a number of quite different, commercial and non-commercial vehicles, disabled person's scooter, motorcycle etc. as being driven or ridden by an "operator".

"My New Driver's License is Wonderful

I renewed my Ohio DL today and on the back in printing is says:
'CLASS: D license is authorized to operate an operator vehicle'

It is wonderful that my license can operate something, especially an operator vehicle. I suppose this makes sense to whoever wrote it. At least the printing on my CHL makes sense to me."

Somebody commented on the above:

"Re: My New Driver's License is Wonderful

I got a new license this past Jan. I might have noticed the text had I not been so distracted by how pink it is."
