This is part of a document presenting an industrial group, and although much of it is in reasonable French, the author could not resist this piece of b******t:
"L’histoire du Groupe XXXXX est jalonnée de ruptures et de fortes variations de périmètres, qui ont produit une ***sédimentation d’activités décentralisées*** à la forte culture d’indépendance".
It is "sédimentation d'activités" that I cannot get my addled brain round this morning, and while I THINK I know what it means (or do I?), I can't find the phrase I need.
Any suggestions will be welcome.

that was what I was trying to achieve - what about have shaken down into ? Think of those snowball things.....(with the Eiffel Tower or such in the middle).

I think the "end product" or "what it boils down to" is the idea here. I wouldn't try anything to do with sedimentation. I don't think it works in Fr and I doubt it would in En!

| Thanks, Emma, for your rapid response ! I had indeed adopted "resulted in" as a working hypothesis, but I'm comforted by your comments - it certainly doesn't work in FR, and I sometimes wonder how people can write such stuff, but without them, our job would be so much less fun ...! |
