français term

Dessin

français vers anglais Droit / Brevets Produits alimentaires et Boissons
Hello

In the sentence below, what does 'dessin' mean please?

I did wonder if it is a typo and should be "dessein" meaning something like "intended use"

Thanks

visual design / logo / drawing

it's ONLY about a recognizable "visual identification", some kind of drawing or logo or trademark helping the recognition/identification of this flavour.

Cross-check: what else would you expect to be "drawn" on a label while being "un étiquetage personnalisé"?
Peer comment(s):

agree Lara Barnett : I would say "logo".

I listed it as one of the options to illustrate the key point; could be the best option once you have more context. Thanks!
agree Charles Davis : Yes: it's a picture illustrating the flavour (a piece of honeycomb for honey flavour, for example). Not necessarily a logo.

I see it that way. The most precise technical term is probably to be found buried somewhere in the WIPO documents.
agree mchd : d'accord avec l'explication de Charles

Thanks!
agree writeaway : Also with Charles. Sometimes just being logical/using common sense pays off.

"just being logical/using common sense" yes but with the caveat that it's got to be within the logic of the given trade/field/specialty! Thanks!
agree NancyLynn : with Charles.

depiction/description of the flavour so common on tobacco packaging; " a smooth dry slow-burning smoke" for example;

neutral Daryo : "un dessin" doesn't imply any text being added

Whatever; it's a depiction.
