Histoire
Cette partie était si peu spongieuse que j'en ai fait plusieurs bagues que j'ai offertes à des amis de la bonne philosophie
I am struggling with this phrase! It is referring to a fragment of bone which the writer had made into a ring ie This fragment was so compact/dense that I had several rings made out of it which I gave to some good friends? some fellow philosopher friends?
It is 'de la bonne philosophie' in this contact I am finding difficulty with. It is from a piece about Descartes, the French philosopher.

lovers of good philosophy
See Katherine Rutter's helpful context in the discussion box. The bones are those of Descartes.
I don't think it's anything to do with "right" or "Cartesian" - it just means "good".

: A piece of his bone was given to people who admired his philosophy.// No, that's for the asker to check - it's only a matter Googling e.g. https://www.google.ie/search?num=100&q="la+bonne+philosophie"+Descartes

: I don't think it should be translated as Cartesian philosophy. "True philosophy" is a possibility, I think, but "good philosophy" is perfectly acceptable.

français term (edited):
la bonne philosophie
Cartesian philosophy /sound ways of thinking
So people in accord with, proponents of ...
Bayle and others used the term in this sense. With Descates himself "sound philosophy" is probably more appropriate.

Note from asker:
Thank you - I also liked sound philosophy too as an alternative. |

right philosophy lovers
People who love right philosophy; with right having a Cartesian meaning (clear, rational, deductive, logically flawless)
Note from asker:
Thank you very much for your suggestion. The Cartesian allusion has made me want to start looking at Descartes again! |

Neither of the answers so far has any references, but couldn't it just be "lovers of good philosophy"?
