In description of legal proceedings concerning wrangles over receivables:
My sources indicate this would be translated as "action for damages", however I do not have evidence in the rest of the text to indicate that any such action/proceedings have been undertaken between the companies.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You can be neutral about proceedings being issued by using "claim" - it works either way

@ Asker: Are you translating, or checking the veracity of the facts as described in the source text? In a legal text, if I had to choose, I would do the former... But you might ask the client about it.

Note from asker:
This is a similar concept to what I have suggested (and I also found these links) - these are legal proceedings - I have no evidence to indicate such proceedings have been initiated between the parties |
