French term

a renvoye X des fins de la poursuite

French to English Social Sciences Law (general)
I am translating a court paper from French to English for the defendant who is English. On the court paper, the defendant is lodging an appeal and in the judgment section it states that "la cour a renvoye Mr X des fins de la poursuite. Does it mean that the court has accepted his appeal? Many thanks

Thank you. It was helpful.
Peer comment(s):

agree Adrian MM. (X) : also the translation in FHS Bridge's FR/EN glossary - 6 French words for 1 English word.//we also need to ask whether French lawyers and judges are doing the defendant & native French-speakers a favour by using such convoluted and impenetrable lingo.

Thanks TT. Hope the Asker is charging per source word!
agree AllegroTrans : I am sure 6 English words (more, if needed) could quite easily be found for this, but "acquitted" is fine
