@Asker Does this relate to a divorce or does it concern immigration, employment/labour, or something else?

Selected

Interlocutory/interim summons (GB) / motion (US) to obtain or preserve evidence

Luxembourg law & procedure closely follows that of France
There are 7 forms of "Référé" procedure and the guidelines say that an application must be heard by the court within 24 hours:

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Yes, I think it has to be as descriptive as this. [Writ of] Summons to attend an interloctory/interim hearing... For the US, I know not. Maybe your suggestion is fine as is; after all, writ of summons is a bit calquey!

Peer comment(s):

disagree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : An "assignation" is a document calling you to attend court, this is not a settlement of any kind. "Provisory" means conditional, not provisional (false friend). "Probative" (EN) proves; but the "référé" renders provisional order pending proof.

disagree AllegroTrans : definitely not a settlement

Pending further context, this may help.

This is Luxembourg. The purpose of an « assignation en référé » is to deal with matters which need to be dealt with for the time being, pending final judgment. Provisions relating to children during a divorce procedure are often handled this way. It is also a way to obtain documents. It is a provisional solution which takes effect immediately.

Note the stated purpose of an “assignation en référé” : “…pour régler provisoirement les mesures accessoires. »
