amputation technique

This term appears in a report concerning an AP chest x-ray. Context: “Pas d’épanchement pleural visible, sous réserve d’une amputation technique du récessus costodiaphragmatique latéral droit.” Does "amputation technique" here mean that the right lateral costophrenic angle could not be visualized for technical reasons? Unusual French expression, however, I cannot think of any other meaning that what you suggested: The right costophrenic angle was clipped on the x-ray, so that minor effusion, formally cannot be ruled out.
