I’m translating a QA report for a large scale chemical production.
The word “Pos.” is scattered throughout.
•Die organische Phase verbleibt in Pos. XXX.
•Start Spülen nach Pos. XXX.
I’m not sure whether is should be translated as “Position”, “Item”, or something else. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Item
Yeah because of nach. It is unlikely to be according to position XXX and in position XXX. But it can be according to item XXX and in item XXX.

Discussion
It seems that the apparatuses are set up in a sequence.
