memory device (or assembly)

As this appears to be about memory storage, the normal English term
is "memory", while German uses "Speicher", the English
"memory" is used at least if it is about
short-term storage, such as RAM memory or something equivalent.
The mention of transistors etc. indicates that this is the case.

If it is a matter of truly long-term storage of data, then "storage"
should be used. For discs, "storage" and "memory" are used
essentially interchangeably.

I have worked in the computer industry for 34 years in English-speaking
countries, mostly the US. Believe me, I know!
