καράολου

English translation: snail (in Cypriot)

Greek term or phrase: καράολου
Description of damage to a Kawasaki motorcycle involved in an accident: ... και έφυγε από την θέση του το πλαστικό χερούλι του καράολου.
I've found out that KARAOLOS is a) a place in Cyprus, b) the pegbox of a bouzouki. Interesting, but doesn't seem relevant here.
It may be a Cypriot word, but please let me know if it's used in Greece too.

Sorry for the delay! I'd like to thank those who answered this question. I choose this one in particular, simply because of the interesting websites, which I'll look at thoroughly when I have time. Yes, I'm convinced the word means "snail", but no-one has yet been able to tell me what part of a motorbike this is. (Someone who knows about motorbikes has suggested it could be the throttle).

not a Greek Word!

Explanation:
I went through greek dictionaries, went surfing on the net!!!! NEVER heard of it.. This is probably not a Greek word. It has to be a cypriot word....I found the same interpretations as you did... I'll call a cypriot friend of mine just to street our way through!!! Interesting though!
