Italian to English Other Fisheries History Fishing

This is describing the activity of a historical vessel (imbarcazione per la tratta), used on the Adriatic/Burano area, which would be rowed by eight men. The fishing itself would be conducted from the shore. The net is transported on the bow of the boat, lowered in the water in a semicircle using other small boats (like sandolo) and then slowly recovered to the shore by fishermen.

And that in English we may call the boat used for this a Tartane or Tartan vessel. I am about 70% sure that is the correct translation for the name of the boat.

As for the fishing activity itself, I was wondering if this is the same as coastal trawling or seine fishing? In the text it says (in italian) "this boat was used for pesca a tratta" - and I was wondering if I might legitimately say "this boat was used for seine fishing/coastal trawling", or if it leaves rom for discrepancies...
