Le prove in campo libero sono costituite dai tre archi di curva: corto raggio, arco medio e arco ampio. Non sempre vengono richieste tutte e tre, dipende sempre dalla commissione esaminatrici.
Alcune regioni prevedono poi delle prove tradizionali alternative. Ad esempio in Veneto c’è la prova su pista non battuta,mentre Friuli Venezia Giulia, c’è quella sulle gobbe. Sempre meglio informarsi prima quindi, onde evitare di fallire la prova speciale e ed essere espulsi su due piedi.
In alcuni casi, qualche commissione, richiede una sorta di “prova libera”. In questa prova è necessario inserire tutti e tre gli archi per dimostrare di avere una sciata fluida, elegante e senza intoppi.
