Japanese term
調停係
Japanese to English
Law/Patents
Law (general)
In the context of:
東京簡易裁判所 調停係 御中
I came upon this term in a 調停申立書, which I translated as Request for Mediation.
My best guess is ... Arbitration Section??
Thank you in advance.

Conciliation Section
調停 is usually translated as conciliation/mediation--the conciliation committee tries to get the two parties to agree. (Arbitration, or 仲裁, is significantly different--an arbitrator decides and the two parties usually must abide by that decision).
"Section" seems as good a translation as any for 係.

Arbitration Section
I would go for "Arbitration Section" since 調停 is close to arbitration.

: Arbitration is different from mediation/conciliation, though perhaps the section dealing w/ both is the same.
