ずきーんと痛みが鋭く周りに広がるというか(echoing pain?)、具合悪い時に周りでどすんどすんと歩いていたら頭に響きますよね、この「響く」は具合悪い時に具合の悪さに影響するような痛みとか言う意味もありますし、ずきーんといった痛みの伝わり方を表したものともいえるかと私的には思いましたがどうでしょうか・・・。（多分ここでの意味はずきーんの方だと思いますが。）

I am using a printed Japanese - English medical glossary and personal experience as medical interpreter, so I don't have any links to provide.
Essentially, 響くような痛み means that the pain resonates or (ir)radiates - feels in one part spot and then at another, but at a lesser degree.
ずきずき does mean "throbbing", but throbbing implies a sensation of pain that pulses (at the same part of the body), which is not exactly the same as 響く - resonate. Throbbing occurres in the spot of the pain; if it goes farther, it's resonating.
"Referred" is closer to the meaning of 響く, but resonating means that a person feels more intense pain at one spot and then similar, but lighter pain at some other area that is usually close to the spot that hurts most. Usually, when one experiences 響くような痛み, one may say, for example, that the pain in his/her shoulder resonates into his/her arm.
