DRI (Direct reduced iron) or Sponge Iron Explanation: I have found several pages which lump 海綿鉄 (sponge iron) in with 塊錬鉄. In either case, the process is described as one in which a bloomery is used to directly refine down raw ore, and this is commonly referred to as 'sponge iron' as far as I am aware. This process is also referred to as 'direct iron manufacturing process' I am including a wikipedia page in English as well here, since I ran out of link space: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_reduced_iron Reference: http://www.infokkkna.com/ironroad/tatara/tatara02.pdf Reference: http://blog.goo.ne.jp/ironsmelting/e/e175bba9c229093aa82df1c... |
