Emergency exit signs are ubiquitous in all public buildings, so why not use this term?
Unless, of course, the context is about something specific, like evacuation route for flood/nuclear/other emergencies.

What kind of place? More context, please. The translation will be different, depending on whether we're talking about a theater, a store, a school, a city, etc.
