I'm not getting the end of this sentence...trumpets usually sound, no? Or is сия an old article?

First Corinthians Ch. 14 contains only this reference to trumpet: "For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle"

This is a letter written by a bishop regarding his journey among some unconverted pagans (Alans)

Angela, We can share. It's important that Deborah gained understanding from your translation. It's an odd way to put things—referring to Paul as a trumpet, that is. I personally like Наталья's "herald of the truth" and your translation, but the parenthetical reference to the epistle to the Corinthians would then seem to have no place.

I believe, труба ("trumpet") is an allusion to proclaiming something, or in your case addressing people like Paul did.

A sound of Horn -is a symbol of drawing attention of many in order to gether them to tell something important( the army, the citizens of the city).
