Zoology
I know that this is some sort of beastie that has invaded the Caspian Sea much to the consternation of local ecologists. But I can't seem to find him anywhere in my various dictionaries.
Here's a bit more of the context:
В начале 80-х гг. XX в. в
Черное, а в конце десятилетия в Азовское, проник экзотический
вселенец - гребневик-мнемиопсис.
Do any of you out there have any idea what this creature is? Many thanks for your help.

Comment: "Thank you for your prompt and excellent answer. Thank you Martinique for Comb Jelly. Although it sounds rather like something spotty adolescents might put in their hair before heading off for a night at the disco!"
