Spanish term

Colectividad

Spanish to English Marketing Business/Commerce (general)
I'm translating a case study. The term "colectividad" has been used... meaning schools, hospitals etc. However, the client might be referring to both public and private entities. So would "collective" work for a mix of private and public? Other suggestions are appreciated. Here is some context...

"La empresa, distribuidora de alimentos secos para restaurantes, hoteles y colectividades, had logrado la máxima competitividad de su cadena se suministro."
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Yvonne Gallagher

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

industrial (catering) clients ref. eng.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/tourism-travel/3976145-colectividades.html

Subject to Toni's point of the country concerned e.g. different connotations on Cuba, in Venezuela and (the US-sabotaged) Salvador Allende-era Chile.

This being said... … I fully agree with Neil that it is advisable to open questions not only to paying members. The criterion of being a paying or not paying member is totally irrelevant regarding the capacity of peers to properly help in KudoZ by posting accurate answers. i know what I am speaking about.

Meaning of "colectividad" First of all, it would be good to know the source and the target country of and for the translation (???). If it is Spain, what I suspect, I think it is then worth reading the information in the link posted below, according to which "colectividad" is just a gathering of many "comensales" (guests) (in hospitals, schools, big hotels and the like).

"Serving the community" is a wrong trnslation in my view.

I also agree. What do you think of using "serving the community" as generic?
matt robinson Sep 10, 2019:
I agree with Neil. Personally, I'd go for "others".
neilmac Sep 10, 2019:
Unable to answer Since I'm not a paying member, although I've been on proz for years. I'd probably just use "others" or "groups, or something equally generic. If the text is aimed at a US audience, I'd avoid "collective", as it may entail negative associations, cf. "socialist/socialism"...

groups/institutions/establishments

Since you mentioned schools and hospitals, maybe 'institutions' or 'establishments' works in that context. You could also clarify: 'and other public and private establishments'.
I think 'groups' would also be a possibility: 'and other groups'.
Note from asker:
Thanks so much. I think in this case I will put other groups and entities in the community.
