Richard Hill Feb 6, 2013:
Shame the asker isn't getting involved in the discussion but either way it might be worth you posting an alternative as per your references, Lorena, so at least the asker might confirm or otherwise, when grading the answer.

Excellent resource posted by lorenab23 and I second Flavio's comment.
Flavio Posse Feb 3, 2013:
@rhane Providing the original context in Spanish would be of great help.
Richard Hill Jan 31, 2013:
In that case, to keep it simple, and without more context, something like, "sentence to..." or "sentence of", depending.

Although there are definitions according to types and lengths, such as:
"Reformatory Sentence

If the accused person is ordered to serve time in custody for a period or less than two years, the accused would serve this sentence in a provincial jail known as reformatory."

lorenab23 Jan 31, 2013:
prisión correccional does not make reference to the facility itself, it is a type of sentence; see here:

correctional facility

I'd go with if it's US English

A prison (from Old French prisoun)[1] is a place in which people are physically confined and usually deprived of a range of personal freedoms. Imprisonment or incarceration is a legal penalty that may be imposed by the state for the commission of a crime. Other terms used are penitentiary, correctional facility, remand centre, detention centre, and jail or gaol. In some legal systems[which?] some of these terms[which?] have distinct meanings.
