Definition / notes:	Pinafore: worn for example by children over their clothes to protect them from dirt/ink etc. - even boys wore these at school etc. in the 19th century. Women also wore them. The bib at the top was often wider than an apron bib at the front and it was closed at the back, normally with buttons. Pinafores were often finished with frills. Apron: worn by people at work (eg. blacksmiths) to protect their clothes from dirt/soil etc.
