plain English VS legal English Nov 2, 2011

I once got somewhat angry at my close friend who earned his BA and MA in Laws telling me that I should never think of translating legal documents but he did not bother explain why he said so.

A few years later, I took courses in 'English for Legal Purpose' and 'English for Lawyers' courses, I am convinced why he said so. Legal English is much different from plain English; it takes much more time and efforts in understanding and translating legal documents!.
