There is no typically in my book. On average, probably between 4 and 9, but a more precise answer would be as long as it takes. I've never done the maths. It depends entirely on my workload. I have been working full-time for over 30 years and what I can say is that work runs in cycles, some days I have no work at all and then in others I work 10/12 hours, Saturdays and Sundays included. This is not a 9-5 job There are days with no jobs and days requiring 12 even 16 hours. So no typical in my book either. | | | Mr. Satan (X) English to Indonesian It depends... | Oct 4, 2021 |
When the turnover time is loose, I'd limit myself to 8-10 hours per day. But if the deadline is really tight, I'd be trucking for 14 hours or whatever it takes to finish it.

I am available to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. I aim to work no more than 6 hours a day, 4 days a week. I spend some of that time on admin, some without work, some time-wasting. So I actually translate for about 3 hours a day on average. 1000 hours a year, then, which tallies with my actual sales turnover. That’s a good work/life balance in my book.
Sometimes 0, on average maybe 4-5 since I do this on a part-time basis | | | Mario Freitas Brazil Local time: 07:18 Member (2014) English to Portuguese + ...
But this is a mere guess, because I spend all day in my desk, but I take several breaks all the time, which vary between 15 minutes and four hours. I think, without a formal calculation, that actual working hours would add up to less than 7. | | | Metin Demirel Türkiye Local time: 13:18 Member (2018) Italian to Turkish + ...
I love keeping stats for the jobs I have done over the years. It's not "typcially", my books say I work around 4 to 6 hours a weekday.

I tend to work 8:30-15:00/16:00 weekdays (with a one-hour break) and 9:00-12:00/13:00 Sat./Sun. when I'm busy - in other words, not long hours but 7/7. And bar two or three days off, I've been busy since July! | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: How many daily hours do you actually spend translating, typically?
