English to French: If Your Phone Is Dead, TSA Won’t Let It—or You —on Certain Flights General field: Tech/Engineering

If your smartphone is dead, you won't be able to board your plane.
When you’re traveling, a dead cellphone or laptop battery can cause anything from minor annoyance to major missed connections. Now, running out of juice might also make TSA suspect you’re hiding a bomb. Great!

According to the Verge, in response to intel about a possible planned al-Qaeda terror attack, TSA announced on Sunday that passengers with uncharged devices may be blocked from flying until they can show that their electronics charge normally and turn on. The measure will take effect at “certain airports overseas,” so you may or may not encounter the screening on your next international jaunt.
It’s probably smart to top off all portable batteries just in case, though. NBC News reports that laptops, smartphones, tablets, and basically all electronics are now under close scrutiny. Additionally, TSA is intensifying shoe checks and general screening precautions. It may be an extra hassle, but at least it will facilitate a maximum number of plane selfies.

The Internet feels like an insecure place these days, but the tools to keep your data safe are out there. The problem is that they're difficult and/or annoying to use.
Blackphone is trying to strike a balance between secure and usable in its new smartphone. For $630—about the cost of an unlocked iPhone 5s—Blackphone's Android handset provides easy access to encrypted versions of standard smartphone services like VoIP, texting, instant messaging, and contacts. Many of the services that come standard on a Blackphone, like Silent Phone, Silent Text, and secure cloud storage from SpiderOak, are available for other devices, but have a monthly fee attached. On Blackphone they're free for two years or more.
Advertisement round of orders will open on July 14. When information about Blackphone started coming out,
Preorders for Blackphone started in February and shipped today. The next a lot of details weren't clear, but now that handsets are shipping, the mystery is gone. The Blackphone handset has a 4.7-inch HD IPS screen, 16GB of onboard storage, an SD slot, 2GHz quad-core processor, LTE, and an 8-megapixel camera. They're middling specs, but you're not paying for glitzy tech here—you're paying for privacy.
Blackphone runs on a heavily customized version of Android 4.4 KitKat, called PrivatOS. It's Android, but without all the Google. There's no Chrome or Google Play, and that means that you can't download most normal apps. There are workarounds, though. For example, while testing Blackphone for Ars Technica, Sean Gallagher used the Amazon App Store to get some of the services he needed.
Gallagher writes:
So, to be fair, the question of how well the Blackphone does as a consumer device has multiple answers. If you’re someone who’s comfortable with a little bit of app sideloading and living off the Google reservation and have particular concerns about your privacy, then the Blackphone is a good fit for you ...
It's certainly not for everyone, but Blackphone's first attempt is a good incremental step toward a secure smartphone that is for everyone.

When working with a translator to convert your English language documents into French you want to ensure that nothing gets lost in translation. This is a special skill that requires unique insight.
French is my native tongue and English to French translation is a field that I have worked in for the past ten years.
What sets me apart from many translators is that I will convert your document to French and it will flow naturally, reading as if a native French author wrote it.
I am able to customize the variations of different French speaking regions. For example, Canadian French has nuances that differ from other French speaking regions. My understanding and awareness of these differences makes for a better end product, therefore client experience.
An additional service I provide for clients is proofreading French translations previously done; finessing the words and making them flow as they should. This is a skill that many translators cannot offer.
For individuals and businesses that rely on a translated document to represent them professionally and accurately, they understand how important this skill is.
My philosophy on service is clear and precise. I will provide you with professional services in a timely manner. Everything I create, whether it is a document I’ve translated or something I’ve proofread or written, it is something that has passed my discriminating eye.
Three things that are important to me when I work with a client are:
- Keeping my time commitments
- Delivering a professional, polished product that fulfills our agreed upon job
- Punctual communication
Furthermore, your projects will always remain confidential. As a freelance professional, I have a great opportunity to help many interesting, motivated professionals shine with my skill set. That is why your ideas remain yours when our project is complete.
If you have further questions for me I encourage you to invite me to bid on your project. Questions are fantastic because they help lay out the parameters of the job and establish a great working relationship, which ultimately creates a better creative process for translation, proofreading, or writing—maybe a combination of all three.
