Bio

With a strong background in linguistics and the language industry, superior knowledge of grammar, a passion for perfection, and a keen eye for detail,
you can count on me to deliver a polished product fit for purpose!

My background

My love of languages began when I was a child, and I decided that I was going to be a translator when I started learning Japanese in 2002.

Through living in Japan for 9 years and passing JLPT N1, the highest level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, I have developed a deep understanding and appreciation of the Japanese language and culture.

I have the ability to comprehend complex and even abstract Japanese texts and identify cultural nuances, underlying messages, and the author's intent—an indispensable skill for a translator!

I have a Master of Translation Studies (Japanese) with Distinction from the University of Western Australia.

During my studies, my passion for translation and perfectionism allowed me to achieve:

  • a perfect GPA

  • an AUSIT Student Excellence Award
from the professional association of translators and interpreters in Australia

  • being valedictorian at graduation!
(check out my valedictory speech here!)

So you could definitely say that I have a

passion for perfection!

I have experience translating a variety of topics, including (but not limited to):

  • Business correspondence
  • Marketing
  • Press releases
  • Tourism
  • Restaurants and hotels
  • Literature
  • Gaming
  • Education
  • Training materials
  • Art & culture
  • Technical (eg. user guides)

I also have experience in transcription and subtitling, and recently translated subtitles for customer review videos for a company that provides automation platforms for businesses.

Why you should work with me

  • You can rest assured that I am qualified and professional.
I have a Master of Translation Studies and adhere to the AUSIT Code of Ethics and Conduct.

  • My expert knowledge and understanding of the Japanese language and culture will result in an accurate translation of your text.
Avoid the risk of mistranslations or omissions by unreliable machine translation or amateur translators.

  • I'm a native English speaker with a strong background in linguistics, years of experience in the language industry, and superior knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
You can rely on me to provide you with translations that are fluent and grammatically correct. Eliminate your risk of putting off your customers with awkward, incorrect English.

  • My passion for perfection guarantees that you will get an accurate, well-researched, polished text,
saving you time, hassle, and money in the long run!

Eliminate the need to keep getting your translations checked and rechecked by non-professionals who may actually be introducing new errors to your text!

  • Contact me in either English or Japanese to discuss your needs and get friendly, personalised service.
I will look over your enquiry and get back to you as soon as possible within 24 hours, even on weekends and public holidays!
