Nowadays I generally translate from Italian into English.
Translation has been part of most of my jo...bs: an American company in Naples; a medical research foundation in Rome; and an Anglo-Italian reinsurance company, the BBC World Service, and a co-edition computer trade magazine in London. I was Italian Edition Editor of the magazine for four years; in 1988, when it folded, I went freelance.
For the past ten years I have specialized in my personal interests, i.e. the Arts, Travel and Tourism (including Art, Archaeology, History, Cuisine), with end clients such as major Museums and Art Galleries in Italy and the UK, Travel Guide publishers and Tourist Office websites in both languages; Airlines (Alitalia); Literature, including children's (I have just completed a 'philosophical novel' Ita>Eng); Cookery and Cuisine (I love cooking and have written a Cookery Book as a fundraiser for our parish church; I have also worked part-time as 'Italian Chef' for a local restaurant).
I am a qualified TEFL teacher. In Italy I taught English in schools, to (unofficial) groups of University lecturers/students and at a language school that my twin brother and I set up, and in London I worked at my daughter's primary school helping children with ESL (English as Second Language).
I do a lot of creative writing (time permitting) - mostly in English.
