Hello dear Proz-team!
I was very happy with the portfolio tab in the old format.
Now I have chosen new profile personalized.
I do not know how to link on the portfolio via my profilsite.
I have written something like "For sample translations go to standardized information and click then on Portfolio. "
This is far too complicated and does not work for some visitors coming via Google.

Because they see my old profile WITH the tab Portfolio and no standardized information.
I would do almost everything do get a my beloved Portfolio-tab back.;-)

Regards
Steffi

I also loved the old Portfolio tab and repeatedly asked the Staff to bring it back during the discussion on the new profile format. No success

I don't like the new Portfolio drop-down thing becasue:

- the text is too long and thin
- I'm too using the prersonalized view in which the Portfolio is hidden
- it does not come up in Google (the Portfolio tab from the old profile format does)

I found a different solution: I simply added a new Custom tab, named it "Portfolio" and pasted my translation there (to do that go to Settings/Custom tabs). It's not a perfect solution (it still does not come up in Google) but it works.

But of course if we get the Portfolio (and KudoZ, for that matter) tabs back, I will be more than happy

All the best,

Joanna

I did the same (added a "Samples" tab), but I agree with Joanna: it`s not a perfect solutions, it doesn`t look so nice. I`d rather have the old portflolio tab back.

And the same goes for Project History. A tab is much more useful and faster than going through all that "click the `+` sign for standarized information and the go to Project History and click on the `+` sign here to have Project History displayed."

Another agree Jul 3, 2006

I have suggested more tabs in the new profile format several times in various discussions, as I believe it would "de-clutter" the profile and make it more user-friendly.

Extra portfolio, project history and blueboard tabs would be much appreciated! Extra tabs could even be added for glossaries etc..

I am agreeing with Rebecca for the third time (third thread) on the same issue: more tabs.

Best regards,

Walter

TOPIC STARTER
More tabs are user-friendly indeed Jul 9, 2006

Rebecca is right! An unclear navigation makes most of the visitors run off.
Does anyone remember the term "mystery meat navigation"?
Most of the website users do not like experimental navigation. AND: The first 2 seconds are crucial.
If they cannot find what they are looking for they are clearing off.
Another scaring fact:
If they compare standardized with personalized view. We personally loose if they think:
"Where did they hide

PROZ gives us unique features like glossaries, portfolio, project history.
But we have 2 default tabs for the personalized view: Contact - Personal.
We can only add up to 3 custom tabs.
That would be for example:
Portfolio - Glossaries - Education
and STOP !
No more Membership or other tabs which might be relevant for an individual user.
One size fits all - does not work here.
May be we (personalized viewers) even develop other useful tabs and some other colleague can benefit from it.
As I benefit from Joannas suggestion for the Portfolio tab. (Still have to do it.)

Project History tab Jul 26, 2006

Project history is a very useful feature.

So it might require a special tab too, I believe, to make it easier to get at and to bee seen.
