Love on the rocks?

anglais vers français Art / Littérature Journalisme
How would this have been said in a tabloid magazine back in the 1960s?
No need to be literal - the sense is a marriage gone bad - so it can be said in the sensationalistic style of the time.
This is for an art project where I am creating a fake celebrity with old magazine covers of the time.

Gigiago (asker) Dec 3, 2008:
thanks Myriam - yes the baby is hers (and his too!)
Myriam Dupouy Dec 3, 2008:
Maybe you could have "et leur enfant" unless the baby's not hers... ;o)

L'amour est mort

Since "Love on the rocks" is a title (song), it may be a good idea to keep a title too for the French public, like Jmleger proposed.

"L'amour est mort" (Brel) is just another option.

amour/mariage qui descend (ou part) en vrille

The idea is that of a love affair spiraling down, and it captures moods of the 1960's ...
Example sentence:

"SOS - 20ans de mariage et tout part en vrilles"

"...dont le la vie extravagante a descendu en vrille quand il s'est vanté..."
