Glossary entry (derived from question below)
German term or phrase:
nach einem sportlich aktiven Tag
English translation:
After a day of sports activities...
German term
nach einem sportlich aktiven Tag
After a day with lots of sports....is a bit colloquial and I wonder if this can be expressed in a better way...

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

: The original says "sportlich" not Sport- we are dealing with an adjective and not a noun

So why don't you suggest an adjective that fits the context?

surely sportlich indicates some kind of sports activity otherwise the source text could have settled on 'nach einem aktiven Tag'

: Yes, I think "sport/sports" sounds odd here - particularly if we're talking something like skiing or climbing.

: I feel, like David, that this isn't quite right - it loses the 'sport' bit for me./I think you'll find that Martin, who knows the context better than us, says 'sport'.

regardless (X)
: ""Physical activity" is too all encompassing - "Sport" in German, as "sports activities", implies leisure activity. If there is no suitable adjective for this in English, it is quite acceptable to use a noun phrase that conveys the original meaning.

Discussion
I ended up saying: After a day filled with sports activities, which was a combination of what several people had suggested.
