Portuguese term
e tenho dito
Portuguese to English
Art/Literary
Poetry & Literature
performance/art
The phrase is used several times at the end of a series of utterances that begin with the phrase (or similar) "O meu nome é X e digo: [...]. E tenho dito." An example is below. The tone is dramatic, slightly surreal - I need to find a 'weighty' way of ending these speeches in keeping with the tone.
"O meu nome é X e digo: se no primeiro dia a soberania se criou com benevolência a si própria, no último dia percebemos que ela foi pura violência. **E tenho dito**."
thanks in advance

I Have Spoken!
Webster Dictionary, verbete dizer ~ tenho dito.
It is a close formula of old meaning authenticity and orality that became rethorical, besides WWW:
I Have Spoken," a standard rhetorical closing formulal[...]. Predating but in frequent use especially during the times of James Ferimore Cooper, it closes off rhetorical speech acts[...]. It signifies authenticity, and it also signifies orality in the written medium.

Cambridge:
that's that
(also that was that)
an expression that shows that something has ended
I won't agree to it and that's that (= I won't discuss it any longer).

Note from asker:
hi, that's what I have in my draft translation - it just doesn't feel dramatic enough, somehow. Or maybe it's the rhythm that I'm not happy about - this is a piece that will be performed dramatically. But I'll think again about it! |

Thus say I.
Seems fairly surreal and doesn't leave much room for argument.

My hand and seal / And that's the end of it / Period
I think "My hand and seal" sounds quite dramatic.

And so say I
All's well that ends well (Parolle) "Why, there 'tis; so say I too."
Henry VI, pt II (Queen Margaret) "And so say I."
Much ado about nothing (Leonato) "So say I. methinks you are sadder."

it has been said
obviously a rather direct translation but I feel it transmits a sombre, serious tone.
