We would do well to remember that Christ is not a philosopher to be pondered, but the Lord incarnate who demands to be heard and obeyed. Only one door leading to salvation has opened for mankind for a limited time. People are therefore admonished to enter into it with the greatest sense of urgency and diligence. If we can imagine the diligence—even violence—with which people would have fought to enter into the ark had they believed Noah’s report, then we have some idea of the urgency with which people should seek to enter into the narrow gate!
