Spanish term

Interacción con drogas y alimentos, dieta

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Health Care Nursing Assessment (Ophthalmology)
In a checklist of policies and health information that the nurse has to discuss with the patient, there is a section for "Interacción con drogas y alimentos, dieta", which, on another sheet appears as "Interacción Drogas/Alimentos/Act. Cuido" Would there be a difference between Food-Drug Interactions and Food and Drug Allergies in this case?

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Food and drug interactions

I have always assumed that they meant the same thing.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Don't forget "diet" at the end.//"Dieta" is about what the patient eats. It's a separate issue to food and drug interactions.

Thanks, Phil. I actually didn't see any difference between food and diet. If you have a shellfish allergy, your diet is shell-fish-free.

***Not all adverse reactions to drugs are allergies.*** In fact, fewer than 10% of adverse drug reactions are allergic. Other causes of adverse reactions are interactions between two or more drugs, inability to break the drug down completely in the body (as occurs with liver or kidney damage), overdose, and irritating side effects such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. If you have experienced a nonallergic drug reaction, it is important to describe it as such to medical personnel-not as an allergy. If you don't know just describe the reaction the best way that you can. Continue Reading
