English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations Information sources
This is from a marketing text, a section of a questionnaire about information sources. It doesn't fit the dictionary definitions or anything I know. From the context it appears to be some type of informative leaflet.

"Magazine article
Magazine advertisement
Brochure / Detailer
Trade or professional journal
Product/ Manufacturer website
Digital newsletter
Webinar"
Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): acetran

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Charles Davis Jan 5, 2017:
Neil Funnily enough the examples I was looking at were veterinary. The detailers here have full product specs whereas the ear cleaning brochure is just general advice:

@Gallagy Thanks for your sympathy. It's been a tough time but work helps keep our minds off the gloom...
neilmac (asker) Jan 5, 2017:
@Andy No, it's about dairy farmers and vets experience of different brands of pharmaceutical products, mainly feed additives.
Yvonne Gallagher Jan 5, 2017:

My condolences! I just saw your comment in the quick poll. Sorry to hear of your loss. I was in much the same position as you this time last year and struggling to get on with work and turning down some work and extending deadlines as my eldest brother was dying...he finally passed on the 8th so his 1st anniversary shortly. It's a tough time so take it easy...
Andy Watkinson Jan 5, 2017:
Has this got anything to do with the automobile industry?

product detailer

not sure but I'd say it's just giving details of the products in the context.

a couple of examples of it used like this

http://westsidegraphix.com/project/logo-business-card-and-br...

in another context it can be a manufacturer's rep. who will call customers to give details of products etc.

Glad to help. New to me too:-0
Note from asker:
We could only find the rep definition. Alison's pharma link fits the bill nicely...

agree Arabic & More : The last link looks like it fits the context.

Many thanks...yes, I didn't realise this was about pharma...
agree Alison MacG : Cf. detail aid (pharma) http://www.glossary.pharma-mkting.com/detailaid.htm http://creativepool.com/hamishmacaulay/projects/ocuvite-e-de... http://archivepharma.expressbpd.com/20110430/market01.shtml

Many thanks!...so it looks like it's AKA a "detail aid"
agree Charles Davis : It must mean the document here. I've looked at a couple of examples and it seems to mean a doc that give full product specs vs a general, more marketing-oriented presentation.
