Nonetheless, like most translators perhaps, I also recognize that other interpretations are possible. Thankfully, this platform allows users to continue to chime-in with suggestions, reactions, questions and comments, and some users do that even years later. I got an agree the other day from a question I answered back in like 2010!! In fact, that's probably one of the most noteworthy features of the KudoZ Open Glossary, i.e., that it's continuously-updated and, as such, represents an ongoing collaboration to find the most useful solutions to difficult-to-translate words and phrases---something I may have said in my doctoral thesis in Translation Studies, even if only in a footnote :-)

Equivalence or adaptation is what we need... Thesaurus give these ideas, we are looking for an equivalence...not a literal translation
the title in Spanish is about all these technologies that surge and are in fashion for a while. and quickly fade away. Some of them keep growing but, most of them disappear soon

I guess this would mean that fashion, which may be (or always is) fleeting, by nature, things that are fashionable have something, at their core, that make (or made) them appealing (even if only at one point in time). I'd imagine that's what the original may mean. This is what I was shooting-for with this (functional) translation.

Excuse the stream of consciousness type of writing in my note above (which doesn't exactly show subject-verb agreement), but what I meant was basically, 'fashion, though fleeting, has something at its core that makes (or made) it appealing, even if only at one point in time.

Though I'm not entirely sure of what the authors means by 'pero no incomoda,' both parts of the target-text 'fit' the context of clothing, and does so while injecting a bit of humor while also reproducing phono-aesthetic effect found in the source text, while adequately conveying as well the notion that certain aspects of fashion tend to retain their appeal, or continue to 'fit,' if not across space, at least across time.

Though I also like Marie's suggestion of including the word 'trends,' I'm not so sure I would say they 'may' end, given their nature; that is to say, by definition, they're temporary.

Thus, two other options with 'trends' may be:

"Though trends come and go, fashion remains"

or

"Though tends exist, fashion remains"

That said, I prefer to stick closer to the usual equivalent of 'moda,' which is fashion (with both terms being in the singular as well).

Thanks, Domini. Re the second half, though I'm still not entirely sure what that part of the source text (i.e., 'pero no incomoda') means, 'ill-fitting' seems to fit like a glove ;))

Surprisingly, the expression is already in the ProZ glossaries, namely with a translation that doesn't seem to fit this context.

In vogue and not in Vogue Magazine.

BTW, it may IMO be overoptimistic - even for scientific boffins and medical 'experts' - to refer to a time post-crisis and post-virus when there has never been a post-common-cold or influenza era.
