Fluffy was the cat's name and the human he lived with, Reg Logan, appeared on the CBC program back on June 19, 1987. "Fluffy is not an ordinary house cat. He weighs 35 pounds and he's over three feet long," Midday's Peter Downie told viewers, perhaps understating how notable the animal really was.

OPTION 2: Shaggy
Unfortunately, the beloved black and white cat named Shaggy was not able to adjust to Steve’s home. Shaggy was easily agitated and tormented the other resident cats.

Pom-Tom (and several others)
Agreeing that Fluffy or Fluff would be a common choice, here are some oddball ones that this American came up with, if you wanted something less common but still for a soft and fluffy cat:
Milkweed
Dandelion, Dandy for short
Thistledown
Puff (except it slightly invokes "Puff, the Magic Dragon")
Puffball
Flossy (better for a female cat)
Silky or Silk
Pom-pom or... Pom-Tom
Plumy or Plume
I won't put Downy on the list because it's a fabric-softener brand name.

To VASKON: Thanks. I don't care about the points; was just having fun. The only cats I ever had were named Angelica (after a princess in Ariosto's Orlando Furioso) and... Nikita.

Thank you very much, Rachel! This is a really great explanation and a real support. Still, I can't help giving the points to Frank, as he was the first and his answer was correct. Your language expertise needs no confirmation ). |

Thank you! Now my brain won't stop: If the cat is white - Snowdrift (Drifty), Meringue, Cream Puff

Fuzzy
I had a cat by that name, a fluffy long-hair tabby. Big gorgeous cat; als it was killed by a car..

Thank you Sergei. Sorry for him. |

Fluffball
I would agree with others that fluffy is a good adjective. If you would like a noun then fluffball would be good.
Other possibilities are fluffmaster, furby, fuzzball, fuzzywuzzy, poofball
