Belgian French Not sure whether this is Belgian French. 'Farde de pièces' is used in Luxembourg, in lawyers' practices (could be Belgian or French). I have read about 'bundle' - would that be the term to use in a legal environment?

"case file" if it is about court documents

is what I'd use. Surely the simplest and most common way of saying it?

but "documents" is wide-ranging and covers all types including forms so file or folder of documents covers all types of documents

And "file" or "folder" can either be hardcopy or computer file, but is basically a collection of documents

There can also be eBundles in this Internet e-filing day and age.

Thanks, Chris. I recall lever-arch files in boxes of trial bundles being wheeled by Chambers' Clerks into the Royal Courts of Justiice from outlying Inns of Court in London as well as out of King's Inn in Dublin. Case-files opened never went into court.

folders of documents

According to Wiktionary, "farde" is a Belgian French word for a folder or binder. A synonym would be "classeur". "Pièces" refers to the documents and files collected together in the folder.

"Préparation bordereaux et fardes de pieces" would be "Preparation of files and bundles of documents". "Bundles" is a specific word for collections of legal documents.

Yes, in principle it is a folder, what I would like to know is whether 'folder' is the equivalent term used in a lawyer's practice - 'une farde de pièces' is indeed a folder containing a certain category of documents to be presented in court (correspondence, procedural documents, etc). Is 'folder of documents' what we could hear in a practice?
