I am planning to translate "talus" as "bank" (it appears to be a grassy bank by the road)

I would also tend to translate "bord" in the context of a road as a "bank" and other PROZ entries suggest "asphalt" for "enrobé" in this kind of context - so would "asphalt bank" make sense here?

Edge Without seeing the plan, it is difficult to be sure; however, this may well be an asphalted strip by the side of the road that is not intended for use as a pavement and not wide enough to be used as such. It would have a kerb, but would not, itself, be a kerb. This sort of strip is generally used for separation between the carriageway and a wall or soft landscaping, or between two carriageways.

Is it between the road and the trottoir? If so, it sounds like the shoulder to me, and it's asphalt rather than (say) gravel..

Agree with BD Finch's discussion entry (I'm sure we can all form a clear picture, but to find the right word...!).

1st web ref suggests shoulder as alternative to strip.
2ns web ref is an example of the term "asphalt strip" in use.

if it is a pavement the protected edging is usually known as a kerb / curb.

does this correspond to your map? does the 'troittoir' come to the edge of the road or is there a verge?

Perhaps a more detailed description of the development project will help to determine if "bord" is best translated as "bank", "slope", "kerb/curb" or even "embankment".
