Biomass resources that can be used for energy production
Biomass is the organic matter in trees, agricultural crops and other living plant
material. It is made up of carbohydrates -organic compounds that are formed in
growing plant life. Ever since the earliest inhabitants of the region burned wood in
their campfires for heat, biomass has been a source of energy for meeting human
needs.
Biomass is solar energy stored in organic matter. As trees and plants grow, the
process of photosynthesis uses energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide into
carbohydrates (sugars, starches and cellulose). Carbohydrates are the organic
compounds that make up biomass. When plants die, the process of decay releases
the energy stored in carbohydrates and discharges carbon dioxide back into the
atmosphere. Biomass is a renewable energy source because the growth of new
plants and trees replenishes the supply.
The use of biomass for energy causes no net increase in carbon dioxide emissions to
the atmosphere. As trees and plants grow, they remove carbon from the atmosphere
through photosynthesis. If the amount of new biomass growth balances the biomass
used for energy, bio-energy is carbon dioxide "neutral." That is, the use of biomass
for energy does not increase carbon dioxide emissions and does not contribute to the
risk of global climate change. In addition, using biomass to produce energy is often a
way to dispose of waste materials that otherwise would create environmental risks.
Developing new biomass energy markets can provide alternatives to burning forest
biomass residues from timber harvests, stand improvement activities, fuels
treatments, and thinning. Agricultural and urban biomass wastes can be utilized as
recycled material or fuel for energy facilities. Barriers to development include the lack
of certainty in biomass outputs and the high cost of gathering and transporting
biomass to energy conversion facilities. Investing in forest and other biomass
conversion to energy will lead to multiple environmental, economic and social
benefits.
The three main sources of biomass are: agriculture, forest and urban biomass.

2.ПОГЛАВЉЕ: УПРАВЉАЊЕ БИОМАСОМ
Ресурси биомасе који се могу користити за производњу енергије
Биомаса је органска материја у дрвећу, пољопривредним културама и осталом живом биљном
материјалу. Састоји се од угљених хидрата - органских једињења која се формирају у фонду биљног света. Биомаса је била извор енергије за задовољавање људских потреба још од најранијих становника региона који су у својим логорима ложили дрво ради гријања.
Биомаса се налази у соларној енергији акумулираној у органској материји. Када дрвеће и биљке расту, у процесу фотосинтезе се користи енергија из сунца за претварање угљен-диоксида у угљене хидрате (шећери, скроб и целулоза). Угљени хидрати су органска једињења која чине биомасе. Када биљке умиру, у процесу пропадања се ослобађа акумулирана енергија из угљених хидрата и поново се у атмосферу испушта угљен-диоксид. Биомаса је обновљиви извор енергије јер са растом нових биљака и дрвећа долази до обнављања залиха.
Коришћење биомасе у енергетске сврхе не доводи до нето повећања емисије угљен-диоксида у
атмосфери. Када дрвеће и биљке расту, они уклањају угљеник из атмосфере путем фотосинтезе. Ако је прираст нове биомасе уравнотежен са количином биомасе која се користи за енергију, биоенергија је угљен-диоксид "неутрална". Другим ријечима, коришћењем биомасе за производњу енергије се не повећава емисија угљен-диоксида и не иде у прилог ризику од глобалних климатских промена. Поред тога, коришћење биомасе за производњу енергије је чест начин одлагања отпадног материјала који би иначе стварао еколошке ризике.
Развијањем нових тржишта енергије која се добија из биомасе може бити алтернатива за спаљивање остатака биомасе од шумског отпада који настаје при сечи, затим алтернатива за активности на побољшању састојине и алтернатива за обраду огревног дрва и прореду. Биомаса из пољопривредног и комуналног отпада се може користити као материјал за рециклажу и као гориво за енергетска постројења. У препреке за развој енергије из биомасе спадају неизвесност у погледу резултата који се добијају коришћењем биомасе и висока цјена прикупљања и превоза биомасе до објеката у којима се врши претварање у енергију. Улагање у шуме и друга претварања биомасе у енергију доносе вишеструке еколошке, економске и дрштвене користи.
Три главна извора биомасе су: биомаса из пољопривреде, биомаса из шуме и биомаса из градског отпада .

TUkupno trajanje: Ukupno trajanje projekta je 8 (osam) mjeseci
Ciljevi nprojekta Opšti cilj projekta je poboljšanje enegetske efikasnosti postojećeg sistema grijanja Osnovne škole u Han Pijesku. Ovaj cilj ćemo postići tako što ćemo izvršiti toplotnu izolaciju Osnovne škole. Manjom upotrebom energenata direktno ćemo uticati i na smanjenje emisije štetnih gasova koja će se postići manjom potrošnjom uglja kao jedinog energenta koji se koristi za zagrijavanje Osnovne škole.
Specifični cilj je poboljšana toplotna izolacija Osnovne škole u Han Pijesku. Osnovnu školu u Han Pijesku pohađa oko 300 učenika. S obzirom da je gradsko naselje Han Pijeska smješteno na nadmorskoj visini od prosječno 1100 metara stanovništvo ovog mjesta je suočeno sa hladnim i dugim zimama. Problem u zagrijavanju Osnovne škole je u lošoj termo-izolaciji fasade i krovnog pokrivača te staroj vanjskoj stolariji, što sve prouzrokuje ogromne gubitke toplotne energije. Usled loše zagrijanosti prostorija u Osnovnoj školi česte su redukcije nastave (skraćenje časova) ili potpun prekid nastave, koji može da potraje i po nekoliko dana, što prouzrokuje opadanje kvaliteta nastave.

Project type falls under a) : Sustainable Improvement of the Environment in compliance with the priorities identified in LEAP of Han Pijesak municipality for the time period 2012-2018
Total duration Total project duration is 8 (eight) months
Project goals Overall goal of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of existing heating system in the Elementary School of Milan Ilic Cica Sumadijski, Han Pijesak. This goal shall be achieved by thermal insulation in the Elementary School. Use of less fuel will directly result in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This includes lower consumption of coal as the only fuel used for heating the Elementary School
Specific goal is the improved thermal insulation in the Elementary School Han Pijesak. About 300 students attend the Elementary School in Han Pijesak. As the average altitude of Han Pijesak is 1100 m, population of this town is faced with the cold and long winters. The problem with heating Elementary School is poor thermal insulation of the facade and roof and external joinery old, all of which cause huge losses of heat. Due to bad heating of the Elementary School rooms classes are common reduction (reduction of hours) or complete cessation classes, which may last for several days, causing decline in quality of teaching.

The Ministry authorizes any buildings and installations, which are planned to be constructed within 100 m from the edge of a forest stand.
Translation - Serbo-Croat Krčenje šuma je zabranjeno. Krčenje šume se može dozvoliti samo u slučajevima kada se time postižu veće trajne koristi i ako neće biti štetnih posljedica za životnu sredinu. Dozvolu za krčenje šuma izdaje Ministarstvo poljoprivrede, vodoprivrede i šumarstva.
Za zgrade, i druge objekte koji se planiraju izgraditi na udaljenosti do 100 m od ruba šumske sastojine potrebna je saglasnost Ministarstva.
