Source text - English As union members we share values like dignity, respect, fairness and unity. Unfortunately in many workplaces NUW members find that there are managers, supervisors and leading hands that do not share the same values. One of the more harmful examples of this is through ‘Workplace Bullying’.
What is Bullying?
Workplace bullying is repeated and unreasonable behaviour directed towards a worker or group of workers that creates a risk to safety AND health. That includes a risk to the physical and mental health of a worker.
You have a right to a safe and healthy workplace and your employer has a legal obligation to provide it. That also means a workplace free from bullying.
Bullying happens when a person or persons are using power over another person in an inappropriate manner. It might be obvious like ganging up on someone or persecuting them. It might be less obvious like intimidating, threatening or deliberately keeping someone under undue pressure.
Some examples:
• Verbal abuse, intimidation and aggression
• Exclusion or isolation
• Put-downs such as remarks about someone’s physical appearance or intelligence
• Persistent and unreasonable criticism of work performance
• Assigning meaningless, impossible or unpleasant tasks unequally.
• Deliberately moving a worker from their work area, shift or role in order to isolate or intimidate them.
Health and Safety Effects
Apart from when injuries are caused by actual violence, the most harm done to workers through bullying is related to the stress it causes. This can manifest itself in physical illness and can go as far as contributing to alcohol and drug abuse, depression and suicidal tendencies. Usually stress related symptoms include headaches, sleep loss, blood pressure issues, digestive problems, anxiety, nausea, loss of concentration and more.

Even if you are not the direct victim, the stress, friction and tension caused by workplace bullying on others makes the workplace an unpleasant place to be for everyone. We all deserve a workplace free from bullying.
Being union means we stand up for each other so those with less power can count on the power of the collective for protection and a better work life. When power is being abused by someone displaying bullying behaviour, we need to say and do something about it or we all suffer eventually.
What can be done?
• Get it out in the open, talk about it with other workers
• Hold a union meeting about it, you can have this meeting away from work if you need to
• Keep dated notes about incidences of bullying whether you are a victim or witness
• Report it to the NUW
• Always support each other morally and encourage victims to seek help with the effects

Một trong những ví dụ xấu về việc này đó là “Lạm Quyền Tại Nơi Làm Việc.”
Lạm Quyền là gì?
Lạm Quyền tại nơi làm việc được lặp đi lặp lại, là hành vi bất hợp lý hướng về một nhân viên hay một nhóm nhân viên có thể gây ra nguy cơ về sự an toàn VÀ sức khỏe. Điều đó bảo gồm cả nguy cơ về thể chất và tinh thần của nhân viên.
Bạn có quyền được hưởng một môi trường làm việc an toàn và lành mạnh, người thuê bạn có nghĩa vụ pháp lý cung cấp điều này. Cũng có nghĩa là một môi trường làm việc không lạm quyền.
Lạm quyền xảy ra khi một hoặc nhiều người sử dụng quyền hạn nhiều hơn những người khác một cách không thích hợp. Nó có thể rõ ràng như việc phá rối hay làm khó. Nó có thể ít rõ ràng hơn như đe dọa, dọa nạt hay cố tình giữ ai đó dưới một áp lực không đáng có.
Một vài ví dụ:
• Lạm quyền bằng lời, đe dọa hay gây hấn
• Loại trừ hay cô lập

Những Ảnh Hưởng Về Sức Khỏe và Sự An Toàn
Ngoài những chấn thương gây ra bởi bảo lưc thực tế, tác hại nhất gây ra cho nhân viên thông qua lạm quyền là sự căng thẳng. Điều này có thể được thể hiện trong bệnh lý, có khả năng dẫn đến các vấn đề về lạm dụng bia rượu và ma túy, trầm cảm và khuynh hướng tự sát. Thông thường các triệu chứng căng thẳng bao gồm đau đầu, mất ngủ, các vấn đề về huyết áp, rối loạn tiêu hóa, lo âu, buồn nôn, mất tập trung và nhiều hơn nữa.

Mặc dù bạn không phải là nạn nhân trực tiếp, những căng thẳng và xung đột gây ra bởi làm quyền đối với người khác sẽ khiến môi trường làm việc trở nên khó chịu cho mọi người. Chúng ta xứng đáng được hưởng một môi trường làm việc không lạm quyền.
Là thành viên công đoàn, chúng tôi có nghĩa vụ đứng lên thay mặt cho những người khác, những người có ít quyền hạn hơn, để bảo vệ và giúp có một môi trường làm việc tốt hơn. Khi quyền lực bị lạm dụng bởi ai đó thông qua hành vi bắt nạt, chúng ta cần phải nói và làm điều gì đó, hoặc tất cả sẽ chịu đau khổ.
Cần phải làm gì?
• Đưa việc này ra ánh sáng, nói về nó cho những nhân viên khác
• Tổ chức một cuộc họp công đoàn về việc này, bạn có thể tạo cuộc họp này nếu bạn cần
• Hãy ghi chú chi tiết về sự cố lạm quyền cho dù bạn là nạn nhân hay nhân chứng
• Tố cáo cho NUW
• Luôn luôn hỗ trợ nhau về mặt đạo đức và khuyến khích các nạn nhân tìm kiếm sự giúp đỡ
