I was already focusing on fairly specific niches (patents and technical manuals), but I'm more actively targeting them now in my marketing. I’ve been translating for 40 years. I started out as a generalist, and little by little, I moved away from the fields I didn’t like and began specializing in the ones that appealed to me most. The 20 years I spent translating at the EU as staff translator were very helpful, as it covered a wide range of topics including agricultural policy, free movement of persons and services, migration, taxation, employment policy, social policy, education and vocational training, public health, consumer ...
