I retained the current project he sent me, said you will have it when the payments are on my bank account. A bit risky, but it worked.
Five months delay is a bit too much.

Wrong question Jun 21

This is the wrong question. I tell the client my payment terms (by end of month following invoice month) and then they either accept or not.

No need for any "moves" on my part.

Unless the intent was to ask what action we take when a client defaults on payment. But that issue has been more than adequately covered elsewhere on these forums.
