Hi there,

I am wondering how the fee is calculated for a job that requires first transcription of an audio file, later translation into another language and then subtitling including time codes.

Also the client asks me to complete a test file of 5 minutes which he is not willing to pay for. Is that common and do you accept these kind of jobs?

Thank you so much for your help!

If the video is available you can combine the translation with the subtitling, unless you have to create the timecodes from scratch. The translation and the subtitling are cahrged per audio minute. Don't forget that you will also have to adjust/modify the subtitles, which might take more time than the translation itself, depending on the video's quality and on the number of speakers.
