EN ESE texto copiado en la pregunta, "pulse motor" y "motor pulsating" significan lo mismo: motor intermitente o que tironea, es decir, que opera como si algo estuviera trabándolo en forma intermitente. El motor gira, inmediatamente se detiene (o baja mucho su velocidad) porque algo lo traba, inmediatamente vuelve a girar, vuelve a detenerse, etc. Y todo el mecanismo asociado al motor exhibe por lo tanto el mismo comportamiento. Es lógico para el caso en que los engranajes están demasiado ajustados entre sí.

No confundir con "pulse motor" (stepper motor): motor de pulsos o por pasos, que es el tipo de motor que utilizan máquinas de coser (incluso Brother). actualmente (no sé si todas). En otras partes del manual seguramente aparece, y en ese caso see traduce como "motor de pulsos".
